    Re: boat cover needed (allisonxb2003)

Out here in West Texas it's not unusual to haul 4 to 500 miles one way..Fact is my nearest tournament lake that is not dried up is an hour and a half away.

So you never know if your going to be pulling thru a dust storm, a rain storm, or a snow storm...so i almost always pull with a custom tarp straped down real tight...

It doesn't seem to matter how custom or how tight a cover is when road grit gets in between the cover and the boat there's going to be scuffing. I'd rather wash than buff any day personally.

True-----however A good tarp maker can put a soft side material in the right places which will keep the scuffing to a minimum....plus I don't have time to wash the boat and get all the grime off the deck when pulling to a tournament when the takeoff is at first light...or if it happens to rain or snow on the way to the lake it's sure nice to take tha tarp off and at least start with clean DRY boat..Plus I'm not grinding all the road grime into the deck all day while fishing.

If you can pick and choose the days to fish.....It's much better....but some of us have to go no matter what the conditions...Also what's a little tarp scuff compared to all the mesquite and hieshaus tree scratches we have to fish in out west..

I think a lot of things like this are tailored to what and how the rig is used...

what works for one guy in his area may not work at all for a different use.

    Thanks Lee..
Back at you Bud...I have been absent due to some medical issues.
Glad to be back and throw a different nickel in the pot at times..It is true that different strokes for different folks/locations can make a world of difference.

Main thing is to take each and every opinion and apply them to what works best for your application.....and not be too set in your ways to realize-- what works for one is not the best for another.

    HeY Russ

It's true My mug will cause some kids to be scared for life.
    That's why I always wear a hat
Have been over to Ute some this month and headed to Conchas this week

Yes--Still loving the Big Alli might have saved my life at Amistad

Ugly water on Sunday of 2 day tournament.. fore cast called SE winds at 15 to 20 with gusts to 30.....Tough but no problem for the 21 turned out to be 33 mph sustained with gusts over 55 ran over 20 miles to my fish...had a good stringer---left 2 hours early to get back
in time. Thought I had bought the farm when a huge wave nearly turned the boat over...I thought it was going to come over backwards..The water came over the mtr and it nearly died
