    Venice Florida Vacation Fishing

So i am heading down to Venice florida next week for vacation with the family. Anyone know a guide in the Sarasota area. I have been calling around trying to get on a boat to do something that week. can't afford to spend $500 for a day of fishing. I'm trying to find a charter that would add me to share the cost.

Any help or advise would be appreciated!!

    Thanks,
    Steve

...call Capt. Warren Girle of "Boomerang Charters". He's out of Longboat Key and one of my best friends. An ex Aussie tennis pro, he can even give you some on the court instruction as well if you or any family play... He fishes out of a 24' Bay Ranger for inshore species and has loads of near shore spots in the gulf... He may have room for an add on too . His number...I had better IM you with that...

There's a good number of "guides" in the Venice / Sarasota area...he's just one of the best...

Have you got any surf gear? We vacationed in Siesta Key last year and killed them in the surf. Granted it was a bit later in the year, but I bet the fishing would almost be better. Most days all you needed was a 7 ft. medium/medium heavy rod and a 4000 sized reel. We were casting out assorted cut baits and shrimp as well as throwing a jig head with some type of shrimp imitation. We caught lots of sharks, catfish, whiting and even some pretty nice snook. If you are staying on the water, I would suggest taking a rod or two and throwing them out at sunrise/sunset. You never know what may jump on the end. We also saw a guy nail a giant tarpon off the end of the Venice Pier but it may be too soon for those to be showing up.

X10......I've caught a ton of fish from the surf and piers. Way cheaper!
