Dog has a messed up eye? Help!

I was sitting on the couch last night and I knoticed the dog (5 year old Golden Retriever Maggie May) Anyhow I saw that the pupil of her left eye was sort of glowing red. Like when you shine a light at it. You know how a dog eyes glow with a set of headlights or a flashlight pointed at them. Well, Now I see it again tonight and the left eye isnt doing this and I havent been able to look at it in the day light. I work until dark. I got a flashlight and looked into it and its sort of cloudy. Anyone know what could be wrong and if this is something that needs to be taken care of like today? Thanks.

I would take any condition that develops quickly in an eye seriously. Call and make an appointment. It is hard to describe the problem to somebody that cannot evaluate it first hand.

    Just my $0.02.

Might be cataracts. My dog has them in both eyes. They came on seemingly overnight and hurt her a little at first. She has had them for 10 years now and is doing just fine. Have a vet look at your dog if you can.

Other than the color difference you wouldnt even know there was anything wrong. I would have to assume there is no pain asscociated with the eye.

Wouldn't they have to be dogaracts???? Sorry, I know it's a serious issue, but I had to.

Check out some of this info- it is common in dogs.

    http://www.medicinenet.com/pet...s.htm

How old is your dog? Animals eyes do not "glow" (unless it is possessed by the devil)- they just reflect light from the tapetum lucidum in the back side of their eyes that helps them with night vision.
