I have a question for you guys. I have been fishing since I was about 8 years old. Never real serious just for something to do. If I caught fish great if I didn't oh well. My question is I fish the Mobile Tensaw delta and the water is anywhere from muddy to black water. I use braid exclusively and it is all 12 pound diameter. I intend to fish some tournaments this year so I was wondering if I should use a leader or switch out and start using mono. How well can the fish see this line. Also if I should go to mono what do you recommend and can I continue to use braid for buzzbaits. Thanks for you help.

GC, I use a variety of # tests, braid, mono, and flouro, just depending on what application it is.

jigs and frogs - 20 - 50# braid
crankbaits - 12# mono
soft plastics - 15 - 17# flouro
spinners - 15 - 17# mono
shakey - drop - 8-10# flouro or mono

and everything in between

If the water is muddy and black like you are saying you will be fine with braid. If you get clearer water i would use flouro. I really dont even use mono anymore

floro or braid with your water conditions it should not matter

i fish a mud hole that that gen clear water in certain areas and i used braid in it and works fine

Use an A-rig they cant see that 10 gauge wire ...........

All the hoopla about string comes from the sales pitches that have been eaten up by those who are on a quest to improve their chances. Where are the facts ? I've seen no FACTS !

But fishing is about feeling confident. So with that said .... Don't let the fish see you on the other end of the string !

I use 50 lb braid and 12-15 lb mono is mostly muddy water all the time. Maybe one day I'll drink the koolaid .........
