How do these two reels stack up against each other? I know the Premier is lighter but is this the biggest difference? Thanks folks!!!

To me, the weight is the most noticeable difference. The premier may be a little smoother but casting distance seems to be the same.
I believe slightly less drag pressure, stx(24lbs) / Premier(20lbs), which is still good.

i like the premier, i put one on that veritas i bought from you and man is that one sweet combo, they both are nice i think the premier casts a little bit better, and smoother.
I have 6 sx's and can't see paying more for a little less weight. I love the REVO's though.![]()

Glad it is working out for you man!!
I have 3 SXs and they are nice but a bit finicky with lighter lures imo... I was thinking the centrifugal breaks on the STX or Premier might work better with light lures![]()

I have each and I can't really tell a diff to be honest. Both are excellent if you ask me.
Does anyone think the breaks on the STX/Premier make casting easier than the SX?
The SX is a really nice reel also and has basically the same options as the STX the diff is in the parts used. I honestly don't know how big a diff the particular parts that are diff make. I just have had little trouble with either with casting or back lashes.
From the Abu Site for the ST and STX. You can see many parts are identical for the SX/STX but the STX has some cool named parts (or diff material for the same part) but what it all exactly adds up to is hard to say.
When I buy again I will go with the STX. you can find a deal on any of them if you are patient but @ retail prices (Premier @ 279 vs STX @ 199 vs the SX @ 169) the 30 bucks I would spend for the STX over the SX but I would not spend 90 more than the STX to get the premier.
