Same day coverage of the classic??

Just checked the tv schedule and it appears to me that there is no same day coverage?? What the hell is that all about?? I thought things were gonna get better with new ownership. This is going back to the stone age. We have to wait a week to see any footage.

I think you can watch it live on Bassmaster.com.

You should go if you want to see it live. I just don't understand how people get upset about not having live coverage. It's not a football game w/ a controlled atmosphere where you can get the entire picture with one camera. This type of event takes tons of equipment, time editing, and so forth. I really don't see waiting a week to get superior footage a problem. Maybe its just me

I agree, but if Bassmasters want to be the top of the fishing world then they need some kind of tv coverage during the event. In this media blitz age of covering every single thing that a sport or celeb does, they need some sort of coverage.

I'm pretty sure you can view the live weigh in and active leaderboard, just not on your tv set

Why not have the live weigh in on the outdoor network, since BASS has moved there?

    Yeah, Okay...

BASS DID have live coverage in a Classic...and it was good. You know why you don't wait a week for "superior footage"? It's all about staying relevent. It appears the BASS owners don't feel they can, or are able to...reach new viewership, meaning the only audience they expect are those of us already connected to the sport.

It's their own superstars that should be clamoring for some sort of live coverage...but they aren't...why aren't they? My guess is they too, are complacent. They don't want their apple cart upset either...stay the big fish(es) in a small pond...

I "love" the Classic live...but I only "like" it a week later

I'm sure the NFL would be fine with having the superbowl broadcast two weeks from the actual superbowl. Not trying to start a fight, but why can't they have something broadcast the same day.

I imagine they could have some sort of live broadcast. But I really doubt there would be the interest for them to warrant the expense. I doubt the majority of tv viewers would watch it anyway, other than people like us. On the other hand, they do broadcast spelling bees on ESPN.

Once again BASS has left me confussed. When ESPN had it why did'nt Bass insist they move the show to sunday right before NASCAR? Now they don't have live coverage. In 2006 they had the most viewed classic in history, Giants were being caught, Ike having a meltdown, storm on sunday, and EVERYONE was watching. So now they think a edited show will be better? Who's gonna watch a game when you already know the outcome?

Live footage is a logistical nightmare and a money pit. When they did have live coverage people complained that it wasnt accurate enough (weight ESTIMATES). It costs BIG bucks keeping one helicopter in the air let alone three.

I think the technology is there....it has been discussed here before.

It doeesnt bother me to see it a week later even if I do know who won. There are more stories in th Classic that need additional editing time than watching a live sporting event. Besides watching someone fish is pretty darn boring if they arent catching anything. With editing thay can keep the content lively showing fish catches instead of a guy standing there with a rod in his hand.....

Now if they were fishing a small lake with cameras statoined at the proper places.....

Same as last year, i have no proiblem waiting a week if it provides a good show and doesnt look like its thrown together. A one week turnaround is not that bad, and it sure beat the 3-4 month wait the FLW championship had before theirs aired.

Wrong. Same day coverage last year. I have already bitched about this in another thread but you would think they could step up the internet coverage. At least some pictures to look at from practice. Facebook has more coverage of the classic. I dont understand either. I thought Mcginnis was the media guru. Their website took a major step back too with the new ownership. Before there was tons of online video and tips to watch...now nothing. FLW has surpassed BASS in coverage sadly.
