    EAR SURGERY

Went to the ENT several days back for sinus problems. The usual checkup, RX for some drugs, and he took one small scrape in my ear to remove a small portion of ear wax. I just got the insurance summary from Blue Cross, and there is a charge for "SURGERY" on the bill for $53. I usually remove the same with a Q-tip for free. And, the insurance does not pay anything towards the "SURGERY". I guess the the Gov't health care plan is in effect.

Sounds as they were responding to the way the Dr. billed them.

Coding the drs office used. Get it corrected. I'm neck deep in that stuff right now. I get the correct codes from my insurance and make sure the dr uses it.

Moral of the story is clean your ears out before you go to the ENT

This. The billing person may have designated the procedure with an easy more generic acceptable code instead of searching for the specific code.

I had a young dentist I liked that I paid out of pocket for a lot of work. Never an overage of charges. After my second daughter was born my wifes part time job put her on the insurance plan which included dental with a deductible. I was having my teeth cleaned and the dentist comes over to BS about his airplane. After a couple minutes he asks to see how my fillings are doing. He spends less than 2 seconds looking and moves on. The (edit) billed me 200 dollars for the 2 second exam because I now had insurance. It ended up being out of pocket as part of my deductible. I made his office send me a bill every month and gave him 5 dollars a month till I paid him off and never went back.
