Next time you drive your truck with a "Skip" or miss fire

    Keep this in mind

Got this truck in the other day...Guy mentioned his truck was skipping for a few days...I got the skip fixed and noticed it had an EVAP leak code stored with the engine skip codes and took a look under the truck

Its the gas tank...and you are correct Troy...Not a Chevy...Just another slam by me i guess

Brand name withheld to save any possible butt hurtage...but any good mechanic can tell you the brand just by looking at the top of the pump

Outside of being a gas tank, what are we looking at??

My 2005 F150 has what feels like a bad shudder when going from 1st to 2nd gear. It will do this for a while and finally check engine light. It feels like its in the tranny, but code says its a coil gone bad. Replace a coil and fine for a while...

Nope...when you drive around with an engine skip from lack of spark you send raw fuel into your exhaust...That gas has to burn somewhere...In this case it did in the Catalytic converter and in the muffler...Glowing red a few inches from the plastic gas tank...That thin piece of tin the factory put between them as a heat shield didnt work so well

And before someone gets butt hurt...this is not a slam...This was an informational post...We all have plastic gas tanks in all of our cars and trucks now...Some brands they run the exhaust really close to the tank..You start skipping..or worse yet..skipping while pulling a trailer or heavy load who knows what could happen..this tank has 3 or 4 burn holes right through it

very good post. For everyone who ignores small kickups, or skips, or misses......however you spell it out. Or furthermore ignore check engine lights, this could be you. Whatever name brand you drive.
