I have a 1996 Evinrude 50 SPL, Model # E50ESLEUS, Ser # G 04250398. My RPM's are running in the 5900-6100 range at WOT trimmed all the way down. Is that too high a number for that motor? At WOT it purr's like a kitten and it doesn't sound like it's really straining, but that number seemed a little high to me. I am running the stock aluminum 2-1/4x15 prop. If the RPM's are too high, what do I need to do to correct it? BTW, I'm not really concerned about speed, but max speed is 28 using the speedometer. I can't trim it up without it starting to porpoise. Thanks in advance for responses.
