Another technique question : Chatter type baits ?

I got a few from Joey at Flatlands tackle. Jigs with blades. How do you fish em ?

I was trying them out just to get the feel and I really didn't know if I should bump them like a normal jig on bottom or bump/swim them up several feet off bottom. Or fish them kinda like a spinner bait.

I find it a very odd bait for areas that have pads or mossy growth.

Ya got any wisdom and knowledge to shear ? !

I fish mine like a spinner bait. The secret is finding the right trailer

I throw his chatterbaits as well, I throw them on 30 pound braided line you can really feel the vibration, cast them out and fish them like a spinnerbait I will just do a steady reel, slower, faster.. I try to let the fish tell me witch way to fish the moment... pay attention to the bait when you are realing it in lot of times it will feel like the bait just disappered on you, set the hook .. this a fish coming up behind it and sucking the hole bait in its mouth as its running at you... and yes this happens to me all the time... I am now throwing a chatterbait as one of my go to baits....

Fish mine like a spinnerbait except let it fall a little more. Kind of pump the rod.

If your fishing in a little deeper water. Let it sink and jig it off the bottom like a spoon.

I love to use the zoom ultra-vibe trailers, that is an awesome looking rig with a lot of action.

That is certainly NOT the right trailer and I will remind you that its against the rules to post such mis-information on this website.

I like to vary the retrieve and pump the lure. Seems like you get a lot more hook ups if you stop the lure for a second. They like to follow this bait and when you stop, they will inhale it.

Don't be surprised when you catch a big catfish on it either. They seem to like this lure alot also.

    Joey's bladed jigs are GREAT!

I love them thru vegetation. They have enough vibration to clean themselves with a sharp tug.

Honestly....................I use a simple straight legged twin tail spinnerbait trailer for ALL my Chatter Bait style lures. Like the ones it comes with or like the Manns twin tail trailer.

Are we talking real chatterbaits? or the knockoffs?

Just curious, the "chatter" type baits I've seen are open hook (no weed guard).

Does anyone make a weedless chatter type bait?
