    Lost Eight Pounds

That's Tackle, I use to carry with me in the boat. Just went through just one of my my tackle box's and removed the things that I hardly used. ie: Tungsten bullet weights, All type's of plastic's, deep diving crankbaits, heavy jigs and I know what your thinking ( not 4 sale ) I'm going to hang that tackle back on the walls of my tackle room, and now to start on the rods and reels I take. I can see the old girl gaining maybe another mph or two.

I think that we are all guilty of carrying WAY too much tackle in the boat. Good for you to clean yours out.

I pulled out close to 100lbs of gear out of my boat, and rearranged it and it made a huge difference !! http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=760313

I know we bring alot more then we need when we go out, but I'm always worried if we don't take it that's what the fish are going to want.

I do the same thing every year. The "stuff" always seems to finds its way back in the boat though.

I guess since I hardly ever run WOT, I will just carry all mine with me so I am sure I have it when I want it.

OK... I dont carry too much in the boat, and still catch bass. The key is fishing where the fish live.

I have many GPS coordinates where they don't live.

I bought the extra carrying capacity Ranger so I can have it all. ...except speed

Every single bait BPS sells will catch bass... That dont mean you have to buy them all..

    Re: Lost Eight Pounds (basscat21)

I was taught to smallmouth fish by 2 of the best smallmouth fishermen in the USA. I'll never forget the first nighttime trip I made with one of them. When I picked him up at his home, he walked out of the house with 3 rods, some rain pants, a sweatshirt, and no tackle! I simply figured that he was planning on using mine, and when we were about to launch the boat I said "I hope I have the tackle that you want to use". To which he replied "I've got everything I need in my pockets."

    And he did.

We fished 8 hours that night, with him handling the boat and picking the spots. We caught so many smallmouth that I quit counting. He (not me) had 3 fish over 5 pounds. And all of these fish were caught with a few hair jigs, a couple of spinnerbaits, and a bottle of Uncle Josh chunks that he had ......

    ........ in his shirt pocket.

Ever since that day, I can go night fishing and actually carry everything that I might need in a little bag similar to what is now called a "speed bag" and I can assure you that I'll catch every fish that I would have caught if I had 100 pounds of tackle in the boat with me. Granted, night fishing is a little simpler than fishing during the daylight hours, and I do carry a bunch of tackle if it's during the day.

But the point is ..... you don't have to carry a bunch of stuff to catch the fish.

KVD is a marketing genius... Thats why everybodys boats are full of his stuff. KVD finds fish..

You can have the best boat, tackle, line, rods, reels, hooks money can buy... But if your not on fish................ It dont matter.
