need help with a 1988 Johnson 150 please

just bought a boat that has a 150 johnson...model # j150TXCCA...ser...RT 7821690.

while trying it for the first time I noticed gas leaking out of the VRO pump so I by-passed it...

tried starting it again and it did but on just the 1 cylinder...bottom portside if that helps...pulled the plugs one at a time to find what cylinder was firing...

getting some spark to the other ones but no firing and I tried changing out the the coil with one of the others to see if they worked or not...they did...tried changing out the power pack from the side that did work and it did nothing...

the only cylinder to run is the bottom left as I said earlier...

water was circulating fine so no problems there that I can tell and the compression is 80 on all cylinders...

this is my first boat so any helped would be greatly appreciated!

You will need to start at the stator with your tests then check the timerbase, a Factory Service manual will have all the procedures and values, you can purchase this manual at http://www.kencook.com.
