Wal-Mart improving quality of their fishing tackle??

Stopped by the local Wal-Mart today and happened to notice they are now carrying Falcon Bucoo Micro Guides, Skeet Reese Rods, Abu Vendettas and a couple other rods in the 80$ to 125$ range. Have they finally made the step up to carrying some good quality stuff? I was hoping to see some nice reels but no improvement there, still just the same old 60$ and 70$ and under stuff.

Had a buddy who is a pharmacist at Wal-Mart tell me they were bringing back the FLW sponsored stuff this year but haven't seen it yet.

I havent paid the rods at walmart any mind in a long time. They did have a fair amount of mark downs when I was in there today though.

Not here. They used to sell All-Star rods here a few years ago, but quit.

the one here used to carry nice daiwa stuff, shimano stuff like curado and calcutta. then they dropped their product quality wayyyyyyyyy down. now they are building back up ever so slightly, they have nice lures just waiting on the rods and reels to get better. ours carries kvd squarebills, war eagle spinners, tungsten weights just to name a few. not that i enjoy walmart shopping its just the only place between my house and the lake that sells tackle.

Not in my local store, same stuff. I actually think they have more for pan fish and trout. And as for my local Dick's Sporting Goods, it seems to me they only order fishing gear/stock once a year.

Depends where the Walmart is located, I talked to the sporting good manager at out local Walmart, I asked him why is it Walmart is a proud sponsor of the FLW and they didn't have squat for bass tackle? He told me the district managers didn't feel it would sell in our area, a area that has a bass tourney about every weekend in a 30 mile radius. He also said he begged them direct and they turned him down.

I've noticed that too! It may have something to do with them and the FLW

It wouldn't take much to improve the 3 within 6 miles of me. You can still buy the old trusty Banjo Minnows I do believe
