    200 HO TEMP ALARM?????????

Motor has had several issues with temp. Example.... put boat in and leave the motor running to warm up. Tie boat to dock then park the truck, get back to boat and dang temp alarm is going off. Cut off motor and fish for a while then crank up and go , water pressure comes up fine and want have a problem the rest of the day......... Problem motor seems to have a problem building pressure. Water pump is new so that's not it. I flushed it out good on the driveway thinking something is in there. Even checked the t'stats both were wide open, with no trash............Put motor on muffs , let motor run for five minutes. I can tell it's about to go off on temp alarm again because it's not pissing hard. While putting hand in the water stream I can feel the water going hot to cold. So, at least on of the thermostats is working , right?????? Is it the poppet valve?????? What is it?????

    Thanks

If you have system check, which light is activating, flashing? Does it do it on the water? Does it go into SLOW mode( 1500 rpm). How long are you running it on the hose? No more thean 5 minutes on the hose, it's going to get hot on a hose longer than that USUALLY, unless you have really good water pressure and a new tight flushette. How old is the water pump? Are you running on top of the water?(Jack Plate)

Water pump has 20 to 25hrs. Surely don't think that's it. The old one that came out looked good too. No grooves cut from sand etc. Had same problem last year about this same time. Shouldn't be nothing in powerhead because it's new. Old one popped last October when it ate a reed stop, it broke off from reed cage. ....I pulled the thermostats out tonight and brought them in the house and tried out some of wifes vision ware. Both are opening around 135 degrees at the same time. The system check gauge is the second light down that says engine temp. Once it comes on it will not go above 1500rpms. It also does it on the water, seems like it gets air locked. Last week after running that morning with no problem went to go idle and graph and area and couldn't build water pressure. Goes off on temp alarm. Let sit and cool for five minutes. Took back off and worked fine the rest of the day.

Have you checked the pressure relief valve for debris or sticking? It's the large plastic cannister on the top aft of the motor with the 4 hoses coming off it.

checked pressure relief , all open and clean. Did notice it took a fair amout of pressue to push in the relief. Pushed several times and to me seemed to be alot of spring tention.

not sure , will need to contact dealer. They installed it with the new lower unit. Seals went out and the Bomb replaced it.

Re: 200 HO TEMP ALARM????????? (SEAHORSE)

Did want to let you know........I hooked motor back up to muffs and now it's working like a champ again. I did take the pressure relief apart and it was free from dirt , trash, etc. Even checked all hoses. I'm just wondering by me working the spring in and out several times helped free up the travel of the relief/spring assembly. Again, tension on spring seemed very stiff.Might need to change it. But hey, you got me int the right direction. I greatly appreciate it, ..............all of you.
