    spark plugs

Just wondering what the spark plugs should look like after being pulled from a healthy engine.ie....color.carbon build up,oily etc. I have a 1997 carb. johnson 150.I know I have seen a chart somewhere with pictures of various spark plug conditions and what they all indicate is happening with the engine.Has anyone seen one of these that relates to marine 2 stroke engines?.......thanks PT

Healthy running motor the electrode should be a nice cocoa brown, light/white lean, black rich. There are pics in the shop manuals.

Usually the way to"read" the plugs is warm the motor, run her for just a little buit, then hammer her as hard as she will go and pull the kill switch... watch out for the boat handling and water over the back..... then pull the plugs and see what they look like... as Championman said, coke brown is very good, white is lean and black is rich.....
