I am not a huge sympathy guy or want a bunch of attention on the main board so I apologize for putting this in the Iowa forum.

On Sunday night (Father's day) my step mother called me to tell me my father died of a heart attack a few minutes after I called him and wished him a happy fathers day. He was in South Carolina on vacation with her seeing her family.

We had a tough last year or so but he was only 61 and turning 62 in two weeks. He was told to watch himself as he had heart problems in the past and he had upcoming appointments pending. He was so happy to get his first Social Security check in two weeks.

He had the best week of his life though, he got to ride in his boat right before he sold it to the family they were visiting, he had attended their sons swim meet (he taught swimming and diving for 14 years at the Davenport Schools) and he had his favorite Hibachi Chinese meal that night. He went for a walk then talked to me and went to take a shower. He died in the shower without suffering.

It has been a tough week. I was happy to have talked to him last but I just want to talk to him one more time.

Sunday I get to see him and it will make it all real, Monday we bury him at the National Cemetery on the Arsenal (28 years of service Retired Major-Army).

I am sorry again for this not being fishing related but I just had to put something up.
