I was always looking/hoping for a GLX SJR 842 a decade ago...always thought it would have been great for the line-up...This was pre-specialty rod releases (SHR,SYR,DSR)

.....and, not that I'm getting one, but do you know if they changed the guide system on the U-Rig rod at all? Big Braid and several ounces of metal and lead just seem like they'd be rough on the mini-recoils..??

Agreed Steve. I am not sure what they've done just yet, but it does raise an interesting question. While I think an umbrella rig rod with an NRX blank is a rather odd decision to put it nicely, it may well turn out to be an awesome flipping/punching stick!

NRX or Super Red Demon, that is the question.

I saw a little writeup on these yesterday, and I was pumped! MBR 843 NRX!
I was really hoping it would be a full-grip as well, but doesn't look like that is the case.

Regardless, some nice additions to the NRX lineup. Except maybe the umbrella rig rod. Don't think I can justify that one.

It would have been nice to see full grips on the MBR NRX rods at least, I agree. Regardless, I'm pretty excited about both the 842 and 843 MBR NRX rods!

Yeah, the NRX umbrella rig rod has a lot of folks scratching their heads, but again, it might make an awesome flipping/punching stick. BigRiverrat, I don't think you have anything to worry about with the Super Red Demon in this regard however

Why an 843 when they had an 853? What is the difference other than 1"?

842/843 is an "MBR" and supposed to have the more traditional MBR fast action, as opposed to the typical JWR extra fast...It the GLX line this obviously makes the rod more versatile and gives you the option of using it as a bottom bait rod, OR a larger moving bait rod...

Steve said it best. I'll only add that I have pitched jigs with both 854 NRX and 853 NRX. It is a faster action. I own a MBR 844 GLX and an MBR 843 IMX. It is hard to describe what a joy it is to pitch jigs with the 844. It's like the rod loads up more, and helps me slingshot a jig. I have never had a rod that pitched that effortlessly, and I believe it is due to that fast action. Not that I didn't like the extra fast action on the others, but for me personally, the fast action works better for me. And the 843 I can throw almost anything I want. There is just a different feel between the BCR and MBR lines.

Interested as well, but I'm betting no on here has got the 894/895 in hand...could be wrong. I'm also betting the 873 falls almost directly in between the 2..
