On my way to the lake saturday morning I had a deer run out in front of me. No time to even it the breaks. Narrowly missed it. In hindsight, I should've hit the damned deer Would've been more exciting. Fished for 10 hours. 6 to 4. If my entire day of fishing could've been condensed to two 40 minutes passes on a bank it would've been a good day. This bank, about 200 yards long produced a decent bite early and then another one at about 2:00. The rest of the day sucked. Water was high and dirty (imagine that with all the rain). The only pattern I could rely on was a swim jig (thanks Brett Rudy ). Swimming it INTO the thickest weed clumps I could find. Not by them, into them. Most of my bites came as I was skittering my swimjig across the top. Tried a frog for a more conventional approach to the weed clumps but they wouldn't take . Most fish came very shallow. Tried some of deeper water spots but they were dead. Ended up with just over 30 but with no size. My son lost a nice one at the boat but everything else was 12 - 14". Had some brutal stretches about an hour long where we never had a hit. In hindsight, I should've gone today. Would've been nice to let the lake recover another day from torrential rain we had friday night but the storms were supposed to fire back up today.... . Stupid weathermen That's what I get for listening to the forecast
