V-T2 Installation

Got my VT2 vents in today....probably would have gotten them yesterday but it was the 4th so, had to wait till Friday, no problem....got everything installed this evening, shouldn't have taken me as long but cheap hole saw and not having all tools by my side slowed things down.......as you can tell I don't get organized very well....started the install and all went well, no problems. The only thing that I would add would be washers to go with screws and nuts....no big deal cause I plan on picking up a few of them tomorrow. As for using them, I have a club tx at end of month and down here in La, the was surface temps are around 95 along with the humidity and heat/sun beating down on you....I think these will do great.

This was on an 05' Skeeter SX 190. I have two separate livewells.

Here are the pics and a quick run down on installation.

LW lid before drilling:


First thing I did was heat up the end of the drill bit so it would burn the carpet, then started the drilling. Once I got thru the carpet I pulled off the round piece.


Next, I ran the drill on the under side to cut the foam backing so I wouldn't tear it up when punching thru the top. Worked out pretty good.


Here the hole....no turning back....


Both installed....will be testing them out at end of month.

Something about cutting a three inch hole in a perfectly good lid just doesnt feel right. Your caption of no turning back now were my exact words after something along the lines of Im an idiot, cant believe I did that...but everything turned out ok..

My BIL is a welder so I had the thought that if i didn't like it or want to take them out later on, i can get him to weld the holes and put new carpet on the lids.....

Actually had thought about that as well. But I dont think I'll have to weld the holes back up. I believe they serve their purpose and along with oxygenators or pro air systems, will work wonders to keep fish healthy. May still need a little ice as far south as you and I are but if it were to cut down dead fish as little as 15% it will be worth it to me. And Ive only lost one in the well the last 4 years..

Yeah, a couple weekends ago, i had a tx and was checking on the fish every 15 mins., it was a hot mofo that day, with no clouds....when i would go to a different spot, i'd open the LW up to get air into it.....i do believe these will do the job....

I havent had a dead fish yet. Had a couple expire prior last year and only thing i changed was the vt2. Very happy with this product so far.

Son remember, everything on a boat can be fixed. You booger it up, either the boat manufacture has new lids or someone can make em for you. I measured, marked, measured it again, opened the lid and put a towel across the opening, then drilled, installed and enjoyed.

Have you ever seen your boat brand being made at the factory there are more then a dozen holes cut . Heck they cut holes in your livewell lids to put the latches in.

Thanks for the tip on the washers. We are going to include them with the purchase from now on once the shipment gets in. We understand the uncertainty of cutting those holes and we respect this. But once the V-T2's are in you will not worry about it again. They are super strong and will look factory. We did look at making them smaller, but this cuts down on the performance. The size takes inconsideration how much air needs to be circulated through for good aeration, cooling and degassing. If we made you a smaller size then the V-T2 would not work like you need it to.

What size washers should we use.

The fastener size is 6-32. We are adding the washers. We have not had a problem with guys not having washers, but if some believe this helps then we want to add them. The washer is for the bottom of the livewell lid not top of V-T2. The top is recessed for the bolt to sit nicely and flush. The nuts we are providing are self-locking.

Do I need to install in the center of the lid or is better to put them where the air flow is better. I have a TR 20x. Thanks
