My club had a small 6 boat tournament out of Muscatine on the 19th. I spent three days out there. Friday and Saturday the bight was very good. We air temps of 75, water temps 72, overcast w/ wind and a barometer below 30. Fish were sitting on laydowns and would eat pretty much any moving bait you could bump along the wood. My best fish were on a WEC E1 crankbait.

Sunday come's along...high of 80, rising barometer, no wind, very little cloud cover. I started off on the marina points first thing being boat 1. Partner and I caught a few on crank's, including three keepers. For some reason unknown to myself I became convinced that there were no fish there (even after putting two in the box) so I took a run....Fished several backwaters down south and a fellow BBC'er turned me on to . Caught some shorts, but the bite was SLOOOOOOWWWWWW....Took a run back to the top of the pool hit some discharges w/ nothing to show for it. Returned to the rock wall...Caught quite a few shorts on a drop shot, lost a keeper and my partner got a keeper. My partner and I both had two fish.. I took third, he took fourth. First and second place both had three fish....my lost keeper cost me the win......

All I can say is WOW, I never in my right mind thought any pool of the Mississippi could be as bad as the Illinois river.....I was wrong regardless I had fun fishing somewhere new, and got to meet a great BBC'er Joe Brotherton.

Thanks again Joe...had a great time
