That would sum up the first 7 hours of our tournament yesterday. I prefished friday night to get an idea what the fish were doing, everything I assumed was WAY OFF
. Made a few passes at shallow flat and nothing. Moved to some deeper water and caught some shorts and lost a beauty but then it died off. I had myself convinced the fish were deeper with all the rain and cold this weekend. Seven hours later I forced myself to move and try something different. Found the bass extremely shallow and just busting shad like there was no tomorrow. Now the frustrating part, I couldn't get them to hit anything for about 20 minutes while they are blowing up all around me. Finally with about 10 minutes left I try the chatterbait. Two keepers and big bass for the tournament. We had to "boogie" back to the weigh in and made it without any time to spare. THe bite was way off for everyone else and that managed us to tie up second place. I really wish I could fish that tournament over. I nailed those two keepers on chatterbait with no time left. The entire bank was bursting with feeding bass and we simply had no time left to fish. I'm going back out this weekend to hammer that bank.
That was one of the most stressful tournament I've ever fished. I fought for that lake to be on the schedule and it nearly bit me in the butt. WIth one hour left I was convinced we just flushed the entire season down the drain.... but as Iaconelli says,,,
NEVER GIVE UP!
