    hard starting

My 115 e-tec has been getting harder and harder to get started lately. It will fire right away and run for 4-5 seconds and then die. Once it starts and I run it for a while, I can turn it off and starts fine, just when it sits for a while it gets stubborn.

Put it in the water this morning and I could not get it started for the life of me, I was so frustrated I loaded back up and came home. At home I hooked up the hose to see what it would do. It fired right up and ran pefect, what the heck? Back to the lake I go, same thing ,start, die, start, die......Finally get it going and it runs beuatiful, just won't start good.

I called my dealer and he didn't know what it could be, maybe water in the gas he said. If there was water in the gas wouldn't it run bad the whole time not just starting?

Do I have to take it to the dealer I baught from to get it checked out, or can I take it to any E-tec dealer?

You can take it to any Evinrude dealer, I would definately take it back to get it checked.

It's still under warranty, like Rudy says let the techs fix it!

I went to the dealer today to have it looked at. He hooked up his computer and it didn't show any errors, just that it went into winterize once. He then called someone from BRP and they said there was a update for the 115's so he put that in. It seemed to start fine after that. I will take it out tomorrow and test it.

    Re: hard starting (21ssextreme)

Still not fixed, brought it back to the dealer today. He ordered a new fuel pump to try and said BRP gave him some other suggestions if it wasn'nt the fuel pump.

Used the boat this past weekend and found that if I trimmed the motor up to where the prop was out of the water a little it would start just fine. If it was trimmed down it wouldn't start.

He told me that another guy with a 115 was having similar problems with his motor.

    Re: hard starting (TMF)

Nobody else having problems with there 115? The dealer has somebody elses in the shop right now with the same problem. The tech has been there twice but they cant seem to figure the thing out. I talked to him today and he said there was one in Milwaukee that they are bringing to BRP for the engineers to go through it.

I told the dealer once they figure out the problem with the other motor, I will bring mine in to get fixed. Until then I will keep using it the way it is.
