    Yamaha 1.75 vs 1.81 Vmax Lower unit

    Anybody know if you can run the 1.75 (28/16) on an '07 200hp Vmax, HPDI? as apposed to the stock 1.81 gear ratio? Also, what would this do for performance?

    '07 Skeeter ZX200, w/ '07 200hp HPDI. Ecu been flashed by Hydro tec.

    it will fit as long as they are big blocks 2.6lt 200s wont fit the 3.3 lt 200s

    I went with the 1.75 because with the power I have it makes finding a prop for it easier. I am still haveing a little trouble. I am running a 28 bravo now and it really needs a littled more pitch if I was running the 1.83's I would be lookin for a 30 or better and there are just not that many out there.

    I don't think it makes any performance difference, unless you run out of prop.

    For instance, if you are running a 27" Tempest and turning 6100 rpm, then you'd be limited to 78 mph. The 1.75's would allow you to go 81 mph.

    All the V6 and V4 gearcases have the same bolt pattern and fit up on the mid section but the difference is the case itself is shorter or longer. We have fitted a 3.3L hpdi case on a 2.6L but had to trim the back off!

    Going to a 1.75 will be like going up 2 pitches in prop (27 to 29)
