Wayne, need some help on torq kit

Wayne, I am trying to install a new prop on 250hpdi, i removed prop and adding a flo torq 2 kit. It appears i have a built in washer against the lower unit, i install the black insert into the prop, slid the prop over shaft and then installed the end unit (locking unit to splines) into the prop and locked unto the shaft splines and then put my washer back and locking nut to 55lbs of torque and finished with cotter pin...I havent swapped a prop in 15 years do you think i did this correctly or did i miss a step or install wrong..thanks don

Do not run that prop Yet!!!!!

Well you did every thing right with the exception of NO thrust washer. You need a brass thrust washer. This kit does not have the built in thrust washer!!!!!

My guess is that the thrust washer is stuck on his shaft. You need to use a different thrust washer for a yamaha prop than one for the flo-torq prop. You may have to whack the thrust washer on the face side with a hammer to loosen it up to get it off.

your right the prop didnt perform right and it blew out, need a cavitation ring in there, didnt run far, just one pass down river and knew something was wrong....took it off and doesnt appear any thing wrong on washer or kit....so i have to hammer off the old washer, it seems pretty secure to shaft?
