Best boat carpet and cheap is not to be used in the same sentence. In marine carpet, you get what you pay for. In the restore forum everyone talks highly about bass cats carpet.

Bassboatseats.com and PontoonStuff.com is the same company, and they sell a lot of carpet. They have a good reputation.

Another very large marine supplier of everything is GreatLakeSkipper.com in Racine, WI.

I used to travel thru the carpet capitol of the world--Dalton, GA. I found a fantastic marine carpet store in Dalton, and they carried every carpet known to man ibkube. The owners' business backgrounds were even discussed online. When I drove by their place, a stack of little carpet rolls were in the corner of an old concrete block building. They were frauds. Moral: Know who you're buying carpet and anything else from on the internet.

Just replaced mine with carpet from BoatCarpetCentral.com. I bought the 20 ounce carpet and was very pleased with the quality and service. It is quite a job doing this. I also did my wife's pontoon boat using carpet from Pontoon Boat Stuff and was also very pleased with their service and product. Pay close attention to the grain of the carpet when installing. I bought an oscillating tool and scraper attachment for it and it greatly assisted with removal of old carpet and old glue.

Here is who I use. Marine Carpeting Free shipping blades, instructions included. Talk to Rick. It is available in 20 oz, in both 6 and 8 foot widths. For your Skeeter get at least 25'. I also use bassboatseats.com but Marine carpet has more color selections. Bass Cat carpet comes in 24 oz and may be a bit tight on your lids when you close the. Do yourself a favor and buy a multi tool from harbor freight with the scrapper blade attachments. Your arms will thank you.

I went by Ingles Carpet in Dalton to buy carpet for my pontoon boat. They're specialists in boat carpet, and sell it to our local carpet stores.

My lids are very very snug with the 20 oz...very snug. I would not want them more so. The boat had 20 oz on it originally and lasted since 1996 without any extraordinary effort. The boat has been used and in weather at times and the original 20 oz. carpet lasted almost 20 years. You will possibly have to trim the edges of 24 oz. - not positive about it but would not surprise me. Before I ordered $200 or $300 of the stuff you might order a couple of color samples and try them on the lid edges. I have heard of someone having to take a beard trimmer and trimming the edges so the lids would open and close. If you like the texture of the 24 - that could remedy the problem if you have one.

Be sure you get a good consultation on choosing 24 ounce. Getting the lids to open easily can be a challenge if it wasn't built to handle the nap of 24.

Good idea on the sample test, Panama. I too have read of the beard trimmer trick. I plan to make it easy on myself and use 20 oz. as I have a couple lids that are already snug also. My solution to getting a cushy feeling will be to pad the front deck. The difference in cost for the 20 vs. 24 can go toward the pad (and proper glue for it).
