Can a 20 hp 4 Stroke Yamaha be converted to a 25 hp

Have a 20 hp and can't get the boat to plane. Can the 20 hp Yamaha 4 stroke be converted to a 25 hp?

If it can; do you have an idea of what the cost may be.

what boat is it on? has it gotten on plane before? if its just now an issue, id make sure nothing is wrong with the motor. with the cost of mods, you could sell your motor and put the extra money in and buy a 40hp.

It's on a Basstracker 165. I use it on hp restricted lakes. It seems to want to plane, but just doesn't quite make it. I didn't know if the Yammie could be re-carbed to a 25 hp which may give me enough to get me there.

You may want to try a Dolphin plate. I never tried one but I believe they are supposed to help a boat plane easier and at lower speeds. Good luck.
