The only ethanol free fuel available to me is racing fuel, I can't remember the octane rating but it was 95 or 98 I think. Is there any negative to running high octane fuel it has got to be better than running ethanol laden fuel.
Is there an Octane limit for yamaha outboards ( 2 stroke )
Anyone know ?

Mine 225 HPDI calls for a minimum of 87, but I would give Yamaha a call before I ran that high of an octane.
Use caution when using some types of racing fuels. Some will cause fuel system damage if they sit in the tank for as little as 24 hours. The 95 to 98 octane that you are talking about may not cause this just be aware.
87 is much better for the motor if used frequently. Once in a while few gal of higher octane is ok if the boat is not used as often. The 95 or 98 you mentioned will only build up excess carbon and over time will created more problems then ethanol. This fuel is a waste of money when ran in an outboar that is not modified for racing.
