    3.1L ox66?

Is it possible for a remanufactured power head to have standard bore size? Had one ring jump the locater pin and spun around and broke at the exhaust port. The bore size on that hole was 3.547, .003 over the standard size. WTF! Couple other pistons and sleeves show wear also. Poor quality work if you asked me and I know where this power head came from.

No, they won’t touch this motor again. I will be doing this one myself. Not sure how this thing stayed together for over 4 years with close to 500 hr, lucky I guess. I’ll post some pics next week.

Yes you can reman and wind up with standard bore size, I've done it myself. Just replace the sleeve in the torn up cylinder and it winds up with an original bore size. At .003 over sounds to me like a honing issue.

Charlie that is exactly what was done. Instead of having the sleeve replaced it was honed out. My machine shop confirmed this today. All other holes were standard size except for #2. I’m having all holes bored .020 over because of some unusual wear on couple other holes. I’m blue pring the ports, installing balanced rods with Pro Marine ProV pistons and rings, tighter heads, Bobs solid motor mounts and tuner. Also, thinking about replacing the steering tube bushings. When Im done, it will be a SHO stopper.
BTW, I religiously used sea foam and startron in this motor and there is no evidence of carbon anywhere. The only carbon build up was in the tuner and exhaust can. This stuff really works.

Did you do the rebuild? Was the ring end gap checked? Was the cylinder checked for an oval condition? You can usually have one bored to .020 oversize using ProMarine's good pistons with no worries. Yamaha says up to .030 before sleeving.

Good news on the sea foam and startron.
