Think I will de carb tomorrow and new plugs. Which ones for this motor and do they need to be indexed? If so do I need a couple extras? Also is it better to de carb at lake or on mufs. Can do either way. Also just noticed that mechanic left a bolt out of the starter mount. Can you tell me what size to get. Tom
You need the Champion QC12PEP plugs and they need to be indexed, the extras are up to you.
I do the decarb on the hose......If you do it on the hose, Do Not Rev the motor to 1500 RPM's.
The lake is the best way........You can go for a ride when your done.
Also noticed that a bolt was left out of starter. Can you tell me what size. Plugs before or after de carb, also what is the gap. Thanks again. Tom
I think if you look in the pans you will find that missing bolt, when you do, Check all the starter bolts to see if they are tight, if the others are loose remove the starter and clean the mounting surface, then use blue Loktite and pull the bolts up 10 to 15 foot pounds.
Plug change after decarb and first run.
Gap the plugs at .028.
Have already checked the pan. Mechanic had it off 3 weeks ago. Believe it was left off. Thanks for the good info again as always. Tom

The long bolt is part number 331644.
The short bolt is part number 552940.
You will need a washer too, part number 309543.
Damn Techs,!!!! Leaving Chit off da motor!!! Man go and see that tech and ask for your starter bolt back!!
