    Loving the 225 SHO!!!

Hey guys picked up my Phoenix 719 this past weekend and let me tell you that the SHO is amazing!!!

Got 16 hours on my rig now and have seen minimal oil level changes.

I have been following the break in technique that Junior from Sportsman Center showed me. For hours 2-10 I was running mainly 3500-4500 RPM's fully loaded (Lots of tackle, full gas tank, and full livewells) and trimmed down, with minimal WOT runs.

After 13 hours when we changed the oil before I came home the oil level never reached the top mark.

I also got an HDS unit on the console to watch my engine diagnostics and let me tell you if you are thinking about a SHO I would recommend this!!! It is so important to know your engine temperature since you need to get it to 140* and then letting it cool back down towards 120* to allow the rings to properly set!!!

It is your choice $2500 Yamaha gauges or a $600 depth finder/GPS and a $75 data cable!!!

David and Steve, What have you seen for top end so far? Have you made any adjustments to your jack plate yet?

I originally moved my plate up 1/2" right after bringing my 719 home. It ran 74 with 2 people and 1/4 tank of gas but it began to porpoise a little from 63-66mph. When I had my 20 hour service done, I had my mechanic raise the motor up another 1/2" in hopes of getting rid of the porpoising. I think it worked. The motor is currently sitting 2 1/4" below pad. I had it out yesterday and managed 70mph and climbing with two people and 1/2 tank when I had to back off the throttle for a turn. The river I fish only has one spot that gives me enough room (1 mile) to open her up. I will add that I reached that speed going against a stiff current. The porpoising seems to be gone too.

Let me know what numbers you're seeing.

I can hit 70. But have my backplate set kinda low for when I take it to Erie this fall.
