Hey guys, wanted to get some opinions on this motor. Looking at a Z520 with one that has 157 hrs on it. Just don't know a whole lot about the Yamaha, as all of my previous boats were powered by the "Dark Side".
Just want to know if they have been problematic or solid motors, I know that broad, but don't see a whole lot on here about the series 2.

They use a whole lot of oil, more so than other engines. And they are heavy on filter maintenance. Open the post up top here about maintenance and you can read about the filters. Other than that they are fine.
Mine has been very reliable for the most part.
I had a worn thrust washer cause gearcase damage around 180 hours and dropped a cylinder at 300.
