    02 225 ox66 heat alarm at idle

Got a ongoing issue with my motor. I can make a 3-4 mile run wot, and then settle down to a idle go about 200-300 yards and my overheat alarm goes off. Just had the water pump replaced for same reason. Any ideas. Also, when the alarm goes off, is it better to shutdown or let idle and flow water? Seems like in this case idle's not a good idea.

Sounds like your poppet valve needs to be cleaned. Have you run in real shallow/sandy bottom conditions lately? All it takes is a couple of grains of sand and it won't open and close properly.
