Bombardier calls that a "virus" commercial. Because it will not be shown on TV, they want those in the business to copy it and send it friends since it is so funny. That way it gets spread around like a "virus".

I love the idea of Bombardier's "in your face" advertising since for years, OMC was so "milk toast".

What 4 stroke did you trade in for the E-TEC, and why?

Had a 50 Suz/jonnny, great running motor but would only push my tin boat to 30 mph and after my kids got bigger wouldn't pull them on the tube very well. If it ever warms ups I hope my new 75 does the trick, hopefully will find out Easter weekend but looking like low 40's and wind this weekend.

I've been telling my buddy for months that BRP kicked the Fon Du Lac crew in the nutz when the E-TEC was released, and he just pulled the trigger yesterday on a new 225HO E-TEC for his 216 Cobra... Well, he came over after work and I showed him the commercial, and he about fell over laughing.. The BEST part is the old guy on the fuel dock saying "it HUUUUUUURTS" We probably watched it 20 times and were lauging so hard our guts hurt! He should be up and running and turning some good numbers in about 3 weeks! I cant wait to get that baby on the water!

What's funny about the commercial is how Evinrude insults the very people it says have the intelligence to do their homework and decide on engine technologies. Yes, those very intelligent customers just love a commercial featuring implied customers getting kicked, punched or kneed in the groin great message when you are trying to tote "the best technology" out there?

Perhaps those actors were really former OMC dealers who were left sitting on millions of dollars of inventory 4-5 years ago - or maybe they were consumers left with the titles to engines with no warranties.

Between the thong commercial (fast, out of control boat, no life jackets or kill switches) and the knee in the groin viral ad, Evinrude has really displayed its prowess as a technological, intelligent leader in the industry.

The commercial is referring to the fact that the four strokes......Price, Maintenance, and Fuel Consumption Costs are like a kick in the balls, that's all.

Just as the thong commercial, they are meant to be funny.

Plus the ad has done what was intended. How much discussion have you heard about the etec since the "thong commercial" made its debute? Brought the Etec into every home in america and a lot of people are talking about it. Maybe its not all good...but if a person keeps hearing about an item eventually he will check it out...

When they come out with one that will spin 8000+ on a daily basis, mounted on a 15" mid and on a true low-water pickup gearcase that you can really jack up...not the lightning...

Cant say any thing about the 8000 RPM's but, There is a rumor that a low water pick up gear case is coming.....with a different gear ratio, This is just a rumor.
