2009 Yamaha 150 hpdi Alarms when neutral

My new yamaha alarms ( beeping 2 secs beep) when I idle in neutral. If I put it in gear the beep goes silent. Is this normal when there is a problem? What could be the problem.

I know of a 300 HPDI that is doing the same... I thought it was the low oil alarm, but it was full.

it's gonna be your alarm on your fuel filter.the filter in the clear housing,to test just unplug the wires going to it and it should shut off.it happened to me because of the ethanol in the gas.i run ring free plus and marine stabil and it still happened.yamaha changed the complete assy for free.

I just put in 15 gallons and 1.5 ounces of stabil marine and ring free. I found it odd that the alarm stopped when I put it in gear.

mine did the same thing.i was at a tournament when it happened and one of the competitors was a yamaha mechanic and went straight for the oil then the fuel filter and that was it.you can take the housing off and reset the float switch at the bottom by pushing the spring back down.

My dealer told me to disconnect the sensor and see if the alarm goes away. It did just as he and justbass advised. He told me the sensor is over sensitive due to ethanol. He told me this was occuring acouple years ago and most of these filters were replaced. I also said if I was comfortable changing it , he would send a replacement to me. The biggest thing that concerned me was that I have just 2 hours on the motor, it's new. Another thing is the dealer is 2.5 hours away. Thanks for your help justbass.
