Remote Oil Tank Filter on Ranger Z20

I've been wanting to look at the filter on my remote oil tank but have determined in my Ranger it's not visable....I have read where the filter for the tank is on the "bottom" of the tank.....if that's so, I'm going to have to remove my tank and see what's under there.....there is a line going into the top of the tank along with the electrical relay wire (that I"m assuming causes a warning light to flash if the oil in the tank get's low). That line is spliced - something hard in the line between the splices...is that the filter?? Any help would be appreciated!

one bolt, take the bracket off the top of the tank and simply lift the tank out, you will see filter on bottom left corner of tank, 5 minute job unless your tank is hard to get to? and i know how the back of them rangers can be

Should be able to do that.....I'm assuming the tank has to be empty or just about empty before I go pulling the filter? Thanks for the info!

Re: Remote Oil Tank Filter on Ranger Z20 (toledo freak)

just a note,i just bought a used 250 hpdi and i drain and cleaned oil tank out (just to do it) and was gone to reuse the oil, when funnel back to tank with filter found a lot of goop in oil and some water,so i did not reuse oil and i change filter on back of tank because of goop in oil.
Something that may need to check regular, mybe at lease one a year?

Re: Remote Oil Tank Filter on Ranger Z20 (Bassin29)

Anyone got any pictures of which filter is being discussed?

Is that the filter in the engine or the boat? I know there's a filter on the oil tank inside the engine but wasn't aware of any in the boat oil tank.

Re: Remote Oil Tank Filter on Ranger Z20 (toledo freak)

Nice to know I wasn't the only one that needed to know this information! I ordered the part from Andy at SIMS this week - $20.00. As you can see from the posts here, Toledo says it's a pretty easy job....I have a full tank right now, am going to run at least 1/2 of it out before I change the filter so the tank will be a little easier to handle in the tight space it's in on my Ranger. Thanks again for the info, Toledo!
