    SHO Break In???

I just picked up my new Skeeter FX20 SHO 250 and am going through the dealer recommended break in ritual of 10 minutes plowing water below 1500 RPM, 50 minutes below 2000 RPM and one hour at 3000 RPM then hours 3 - 10 at varying throttle with no more than 5 minutes at full throttle. I'm 1 hr 20 minutes into this and wondering if this is the Yamaha recommended break in or is this overly cautious?

Thanks as always for the input!

I just followed the book that came with the engine. I think I spent the first hour just plowing as it was difficult to do much at the low RPMS. The next hour was RPM limited, then as you said varying throttle for the rest of the time, no more than 5 minutes at one set RPM. I would highly suggest you make those 5 minute runs WOT at times. I don't have my manual in front of me, but I believe this is what I recall.

Follow your owners manual that came with the motor. If you did not receive one, go back to the dealer and demand you owners manual!!!!!!!

Run that Hammer to the max allowed by manuf. break-in procedure and you will have a strong motor. Don't baby the motor.

    Re: (WDBrand)

I'm a huge fan of "Break 'em in the way you're gonna run 'em" but I'm also a huge fan of a warranty so I'm going to be good for the first few hours as recommended then we'll start jacking up the motor and sending props to Mark...until then I'm doin' time
