I was wondering if they make a upper driveshaft for the 2 pice driveshafts that will fit a pre 91 evinrude V6 . I think they are 3/8" longer than the new style. I was thinking they made them but ive looked and looked and cant find them.
Thanks

You'll need your model number when you look it up. If you do not have a 2 peice driveshaft now, you will need the upper and lower sections.
i have a 93 venom that was rebuilt with a 89 model crank. I have a lower unit with 2 piece shaft for the 93. I was looking for the upper shaft to put them together. My motor is a hybrid, model #s wont help alot.
Thanks
Hmmmmm, I'll do some checking on this. Seems to me i've hit this one before. Does the 2 peice top out in your setup, not let the gearcase go up far enough?
If you have to you can have yours cut and welded to fit.
Yes this is safe. My 335 hp short shaft motor uses a welded drive shaft.
I have heard that there are conversion driveshafts so the newer gearcases will work with older motors but even if you do find one it is going to be expensive compared to cut and weld. Gorden Montague here in Florida charges $125 to cut and weld a shaft. I was going to have him do another one for me this weekend but I didn't recieve the shaft in time.
Ive never tried bolting it up to it. All I know is the old shaft is 3/8 shorter and that is what i had been running. I dont have a shop close good enough to cut the shaft down. With shipping round trip and $125 i think you could buy just an upper shaft for not alot more than that.
Thanks
