Received an email indicating I should use Permatex #27. Not sure who sent it. Any thoughts?
When i replaced my thermostats on my 05 225 hpdi i just put the new ones in put on a new gasket and bolted it down. It was a simple install and all i needed to do was scrape away a little of the old gasket but the came off real easy and didn't seem to have any sealants added.
Current: 2006 ~ 20i ~ 250 HPDI ~ T1-25p
Previous: 2005 ~ ZX 225 ~ 250 HPDI Phase III - TXP 26p
I just replaced mine and did not use any sealant. I removed the old gaskets (scraped away anything that stuck) and placed the new gasket on and bolted it up. I have not seen any problems.
I just finished and left it dry. I will test it as well. I also had the opportunity to change the water pump and was lucky........all bolts came out smooth and the reassembly was easy as well. Not bad for an 89. I will count my blessings.![]()
If anything rub some grease on gasket. Key point; make it easier to service in the future.
