I know most on here has a 150hp and up but maybe someone can help me. I have taken my motor to several mechanics and not one of them can find the problem. Its a 1999 c60hp motor. Ever since I had this motor (when I bought it, the original owner was still on Double oil,so it wasn't ran much) it takes forever to start no matter how I try to start it and when you get it started and let it warm up. It takes as much as 200 yds to get the boat on plane. When you trim it all the way down, it'll almost shut off on you, you floor it and one cylinder will fire and eventually the second and eventually the third. It only does this initally, after the first run of the day all is fine. Its on a 17' center console aluminum polar craft that's rated for a 75hp. It has left me stranded more than once. I do a lot of saltwater fishing, flounder gigging, shrimping, and oyster picking, used to use it for bass fishing until I got another boat, now I only use it for saltwater. I use star-tron in every tank since the ethanol has been in the gas. I have installed a water seperator on it and I change it twice a year. I change the spark plugs every year along with water pump kit and gear oil. The motor probaly has 2k plus hrs on it, so yes it doesn't sit still long(fish year round). I've had the carbs cleaned and sync numerous times with no change in the motor. I know I hate waking somebody up at 3 am to come get me when this thing leaves me stranded. It leaves me stranded about 1-2 times a year, so I've learned to take food and good rain suits with me. I have also changed the head gasket due to it was leaking and it is still good. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks![]()
