Yam 250 SHO have you played with it?

Anyone on this board driven one yet? Have any first hand experience? I am ordering a boat and the motor is holding me up. SHO or XS. If all the talk is true or even 90% true i think i am going with the SHO.

I have talked to one guy that has driven it and he says it is the real deal as far as performance. Anyone seen or heard anything different than what Yamaha advertises?

Any claims as to a longer life (like most 4 strokes) than a 2 stroke?

    Anyone calling BS on Yamaha?

    Anyone Help?

    Bueller?

    Thanks!

That's me, congratulations on the Puma. I won't be over there till spring, I fished quite a bit on the C this year getting ready for Divisionals, and then came over in the fall to take my wife out with Bob Atkinson out of Kennewick. I'll be over sometime next year in my Jag. Mike

Small world, Bob was my Tournament partner the last two years with the NorthWest bass team tournament series.

He taught me how to fish "Ole Ugly" last year, I lived in his driveway for about 2 weeks. He also kept me out of the rocks when I was prefishing. I was really impressed with the Columbia River, especially when the wind started to blow. Like everyone else, I'm keeping a watch on the new Yamaha and trying to decide if I should repower with one. I know 4 guys that have personally ran one and on and off the record they all say it seems to be the real deal. They all rave about the acceleration. They also mention its got some nice sounds at higher speeds. They are all stoked about it.

I have driven one on two different occasions on 3 different boats. I'm was impressed to point of ordering one immediately. I had ordered a Z521 with another engine and it came in while testing the SHO-bad timing so I thought. I was able to reorder with the SHO and it should be here within 2 weeks.

The holeshot and midrange are awesome. Look at the stats that Yamaha published, from what I experienced they are not inflated at all. If anything they are very conservative. The only unanswered question in my mind is durability and only time will tell.

I just saw the motor yesterday at a sportsmans show. Looks good

I cant find a reason not to go with it so far!

A few incintives would probably close the deal for me.

I hear ya! I don't know if we'll see those incentives or not. I think they will only be used to dump present inventory.

I ordered my boat colors to match the colors on the engine.

A little red, blue, carbon mist, and gold pins on a base coat of white. Should be one of a kind anyway.
