Water in Lower Unit (2000) Johnson 150?

Prior to going out tommorow I changed the oil in the lower unit today. (first trip of the year). When I removed the lower oil plug, a little less than about 1/2 of a shot glass worth (sorry, that's all I could think of to quantify with!) of what looked like water dribbled out of the lower unit and the oil (Bomb Ulta-HPF) looked kinda greenish. It's been setting up all winter. This should not be condensate should it? No water should ever get into the lubricant in the lower, right?

    TIA

The lower unit will condensate, but not that much. I would run it one trip on a fresh change and recheck it the next day. If any water is present, get it resealed, or get it pressure and vacuum tested to at least detemine the leaking seal and replace that seal. By this time the mechanic will tell you to go ahead and seal the whole thing anyway. It's better to be safe than sorry.

It should not have water in it, see if you can get the gearcase pressure and vacuum tested, this will show you were its leaking.

Could be as simple as a bad drain plug gasket.
