gray powder

I will do the best i can to discribe this, toke the boat out today to everything went great. when i was wiping down the motor on the front of the cowling was gray powder that was dry but looked like it was a liquid at first the it dried. i can not see where it came from any one have a clue what i am seeing?

Friend of mine has that with his 2007 F250 yammie. It does not come off. Not sure what caused it.

i can wipe it right off it happens all the time. dont know where it comes from.
