A question for you rude gurus

Ok here is the history on my 1994 3.0 liter finger port injection rude

Motor was rebuilt november 2003. new wiseco pistons, rings, boysen 2 stage reeds, vro pump, bored, decked , blue printed, balanced and rejetted. boat ran good intell it sat for over a year.

I started running the boat again intell I chipped the boysen reeds ( after over 75 +hours ) SO I had my trusty mech install new boysen reeds, new reeds plates, new regulator and a aluminum fly wheel since the trigger on my old wheel slipped.

After we installed these parts we linked and sinked the carbs and timed it to 18 degrees btc. The boat ran great on the water muffs.

next day I let my buddy use the boat in a tourny. He fires it up and it smoked like a banchee and had trouble ideling on its own. He takes of at blast off and it took for ever to get on plane and never went over 3500 rpms. after he shut the boat down and fished for awhile he went to take off again and the boat did the same thing and died. he restarted it up and the horn went off at a consint beep. so he gave up and got towed back.

now when you turn the key on with out firing it the horn still goes off at a steady solid beep.

I was thinking maybe a vro pump ? the electical pick up at the oil res.? clogged carb from setting ?

Any ideas ? My mech. is going to fix ti this wednesday but I was just trying to figure it out and see what you guys think the problem with it is ??

    thanks

Solid horn is overheat..... good be bad sensor, causing it to go into slow mode....

Re: A question for you rude gurus (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

I got bored and pulled my plugs.

star board cyinder 1,3 and 5 look pretty normal ( clean and a little oily and wet)

    port

#2 cyl. is solid black but really dry looking ( kinda like a piece of goal)
#4 and #6 are solid black and have alot of oil build up.

Does this give any of you guys a idea of what could be wrong ?

    Champ,
Do a compression test right away. Then let us know what your readings are.

Could be from sitting, could be stuck float valves, could be a stuck thermostat, could be an ignition problem, like Miguel posted, check the compression.

I do not like Wiseco pistons and will not use them.

We did a compression test before we did the reeds just to be safe. all cylinders read 95-100 psi exept the port side bottom #6 wich was 90 psi.

I will still check my cylinder pressure and post it.

Here we go on the psi numbers

    cyl. #2= 105 cyl. #1=105

    cyl. #4=105 cyl. #3=105

    cyl. #6=95 cyl. #5=105

cylinder 2 had the dry fouled plug and cylinder 4 and 6 had the wet fouled plugs.

I know these are low compression heads and the #6 cylinder has lower numbers on the cylinder pressure.

And these numbers are from a cold test

I think you have either a Timer base or a PP problem from the description. I too am not a big fan of the Wisco's either. You've made mods also, nothing real major but we really don't do mods here. Be prepared to have the motor gone over again once you get it running right in about 100 hrs. That is the cost to play.

Even though the oil tank uses an intermittent beep to tell you of low oil, if the sensor shorts in the tank , they sometimes give you a solid horn. Simple test is to disconnect the oil tank when the horn is sounding. This also works with any horn that sounds when the key is on and the engine is not running. check the thermostats on the side that is carboning up, make sure that they do not stick open/ closed and are free of obstructions. # 2 sounds like it may be starting to get a little warmer from the hard carbon deposit that you described. Even though you have compression. Check the cylinder walls for damage. A cold compression test may not show the pistons expansion onto the walls. I also do not use wiseco pistons in my rebuilds. I do not have a problem with botsen reeds, they let you go vroom..

Oh yeah, wouldn't be a bad idea to check the flywheel magnets, as ChampioNman said, could be a sensor or pack problem. Check the center ring on the flywheel to see if it has moved.

Well I figured it out . I just had 2 coil wires switched around is all and as for the horn I had a sensor wiring grounding out. Ran the boat today and she ran awesome

Thanks for the previous help guys. I have learned alot here on this board and still do
