I took my boat out today for the first time this year, just to run it and make sure everything was running ok after the winter. I winterized it last fall, as well as put Sta-bil in the gas. The motor (2001 90hp 2-stroke) started up for me today after 3 or 4 tries. It wanted to idle for just a second between 400 and 600 rpms, then die. I got it to run at higher rpms by starting it again with the neutral throttle lever raised. As soon as I would lower the lever all the way back down it would return to the 500rpm range and die. I eventually got it shifted into gear before it died, but the engine would bog down at around 1800rpm, and wouldn't go any further.

Does anyone have any ideas what my problem could be? Also, I added a fuel filter last year or the year before... could it be a clogged / old fuel filter that needs to be replaced? I know really nothing about motors, so I'm not sure where to start. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!
