2000 VMAX Oil Pump Rod Link question

Greetings all, after nearly getting smoked off the lake last weekend, i looked under the cover and found the oil pump rod link had came undone. The plastic joint link cracked in two and i'm glad that this thing failed in the wide open position vice the other way. Anyway, parts on order but my question is.....

There is a lot of threads on the Rod link....how far up the rod link do i need to set the plastic joint link before i attach it to the oil pump? I'm guessing not many threads ='s lots of oil to the motor and if i screw the plastic piece high up on the rod link than that means less oil???? Anyone have a clue on what a good setting is for this or do i need to worry? By the way...i've just exceeded my motor knowledge 10 fold, and hats off to my neighbor for saying hey...is that rod supposed to be laying down like that cheers

The thread above about oil consumption tells you how to set the oil pump.

They're talking about the mechanical pump that feeds oil into the engine. It's not the pump you're having problems with.
