Changing out props,took cotter pin out and unscrewed prop nut on shaft with fingers,are these nuts supposed to be this loose? Just wanted to check before I try the new prop....any help appreciated

Nope, Should be 40-55 ft lbs of torque on the nut. Dont remember what specs it is.

Good news, Your cotter pin worked the way it's supposed to. Also 50lbs should be good.
