Regarding routine maintence vs. warranty

I have a 2003 250 HPDI that is still under warranty until April. I carry it in about this time every year to have some routine maintence done, i.e. water pump/impeller but the prices my local dealer charges are ridiculous!!!! There is a local mechanic here who is one of the best there is that I was going to get to do it, but my question is will it void the warranty if you have work performed by anyone but a dealer or certified factory repair center?

No worry, the one good thing congress did do for us consumers several years ago was pass the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. It covers a lot of items but one thing that it does is, it does not allow a manufacture to void any warranties on OEM equipment if you seek repair work outside of the OEM, such as your example.
