    Help - I screwed up!

Just pulled a dumb move with my new to me boat. Backed in the garage and forgot to lower the motor so it wouldn't hit the garage door. Needless to say after the sound of fiberglass crunching and profanities flying from my mouth, I am in need of repair to my HPDI cowling. It didn't break the main part of the cowling, just the top and the 2 vent pieces. I looked online for OEM parts and they total up to about $750.00 plus shipping. The complete cowling is $1150.00. I found a used one (complete) that says like new for $550.00. I guess I'm going to go this route unless anyone has any better suggestions. Just can't believe that a couple of fiberglass parts for the top section of the cowling could be so expensive. I guess it serves me right for making such a stupid move.

Not the top pieces (vents and lid). I'm not going to break the rest to see what it really is!

How is the paint on the cowling? I'm looking at repainting mine (had to repair a hole) and just paint/primer/clear/base is around $350. New decals will be $95 from iguana. How much was the cowling you got?

Paint is good. Just one 3"crack in back bottom (hairline- you can only see it if you are looking for it. Paid $550 for the whole thing, I'll take $250 for thie main body (no vents and lid).

I feel your pain I did the same thing. It cost $600. to replace top cap and vents. I do have the old top cap and it is not really that bad, I can send you a pic to see if you would want it. Free..
