    My experience with Solarex

I clear coated 6 lures over the weekend with Solarex. I dipped 4 and brushed 2. They came out like the other posts. Not as clear as DN or D2T but pretty good. I had 2 dipped lures wrinkle towards the tail as I hung them tail down. The other 2 worked great. I didn't thin the Solarex by heating. I think I could avoid the wrinkles in the future by letting the lures drip longer. I used the 30 seconds in sun, 30 seconds out for 10 cycles. Overall, I'm going to switch to this product until I find something better for plastic baits.

I do have a question for the guys using this. Have you tried only one coat when brushing?

guys I guess I'm doing something wrong. i bought some of the product and brushed one coat on an old lure. then i put it on my turning wheel under an uv light for over 30 minutes. the sides dried but the top was still sticky. the worse thing is the bait didnt even look like it had a clear coat on it. here is a picture of what i bought. is it the right product. also i noticed on the bottle it says add a hardener to the resin.photo.jpg

.That's it. My understanding is you can add a hardner if you do not have the proper uv light it it is not necessary with uv light

I have done about 15 baits now and pretty impressed with the shine they have, but I not so impressed with the sticky feeling they have. You can tell that they are cured but still feel like it has a sticky feel. Now the part I left in the cup and set out side was rock solid. I just set them in the sun and turned them every so often.

Just got mine today.... woohoo anyone wanna get high? smell like bondo. I did a quick bait and it does cure hard and quick. didn't level like I'm used to but I was in a hurry. I had bought the light they sell that goes in a lamp.... not happy with it so I got to play around to see if I can get it to work. The wifes nail dryer worked awesome!!!!!

whew the fumes.... anybody got the munchies

When you get them under the lamp they will not be tacky. If you are curing in the sun try using your drying wheel.

can't wait to get my light in and try it out. Over all I very happy with this product and if you heat it very slightly it makes a world of differance when brushing.
