    2002 Yamaha 225HP OX55

I'm interested in buying a boat with this engine. I idle alot because i fish in long idle only creeks that are no wake zones.

If i idle alot, will the Yamaha be a problem ?

In contrast, i'm told that the Evinrude Fitch engines don't hold up unless you run them max all the time.

Also, if i do idle alot... will shooting up the engine with something like deepcreep help as part of regular maintenance on my end ?

Idling will eventually carb up the motor unless you run Ring Free or Sea Foam through it often. If I did lots of trolling or idling, I go 4 stroke, period.

I have the same motor and am very happy with it. But, I don't idle alot or troll, so I can't comment on that use.

I know a guy who has a evinrude and he says that it hates to idle so I would stay away from them.
